Often these residents need an enhanced level of care to ensure they are safe and that their unique needs have been adequately met. It is also crucial that residents are allowed to retain their sense of identity and can live their life to the fullest, without feeling that they are being controlled by the technology around them or that they have lost their independence.

The L672 Dementia Care Controller:

The Intercall Dementia Care Controller is designed as a non intrusive system for residents who may require assistance when they are confused. Primarily used during the night, the unit allows staff to select a movement profile which is considered to be "normal" for a particular resident.

By controlling the lighting in the bedroom and ensuite WC areas, the unit helps guide a confused resident to the bathroom and back to bed without the need for staff intervention. In the event that the residents movements do not represent "normal" behaviour, an alarm is automatically raised and staff are alerted through the nurse call system. In addition, the unit can be configured to monitor bedroom and patio doors to alert staff immediately should the resident leave the bedroom.

Operating Sequence:

The resident is detected leaving their bed

Bathroom LED light starts to provide gentle guide for the resident

When the resident leaves the bathroom, the bed light starts, and the bathroom light stops, gently guiding the resident

Once the resident is back in bed the bed light switches off. If a resident does not return to bed an alarm is raised to alert staff to attend

L672 Dementia Controller

L672 Dementia Controller

The heart of the system is the L672 Dementia Care Controller.

Located outside the room, it allows staff to enable the resident movement monitoring and door monitoring independently via two simple to use buttons with indication lamps.

The unit features a Liquid Crystal Display which is used to select the desired movement profile and in the event of alarm, the monitoring device which initiated the alarm.
PIR Movement Sensor

PIR Movement Sensor

The PIR units are used to monitor the resident movements within the bedroom and bathroom areas.

Located unobtrusively adjacent to the en-suite door, they send resident movement information back to the Dementia Care Controller for analysis.
Bed Sensor Mat

Bed Sensor Mat

The bed sensor mat is positioned underneath the clients matress and detects when they have left their bed.

If a client does leave their bed, the PIR system is triggered and the sequence of guiding the client to the bathroom and back to their bed again is initiated. If the client does not return to bed, a call is raised on the system so that staff can respond and ensure everything is OK.
LED Lighting

LED Lighting

LED lighting is installed above the bed as well as inside the en-suite WC and provides a gentle way to guide the client to and from the en-suite WC without the need for staff intervention.
Door Monitoring Contacts

The Dementia Care Controller can be configured to monitor the residents bedroom door and bedroom patio door so that an alarm is raised immediately in the event that the resident leaves the room. To activate the unit, doors are fitted with an unobtrusive contact to detect when the door is opened.
Call Logging

Call Logging

All resident activity can be monitored and recorded using the IP Power Supply, without requirement for a dedicated PC or any installed software. This allows resident movement to be analysed and the profile altered as the residents movement patterns change.
